Photographer Corinne Day to Be Remembered In Exhibition and Book

The earliest published works of fashion photographer Corinne Day, featuring a young Kate Moss, are to be exhibited in London next month. Corinne Day made her name as the sometimes controversial snapper who introduced the world to a young Kate Moss over 21 years ago and there will be an exhibition of her work to honour her. The exhibition will be called ‘Corinne Day: The Face’ and will cover her earliest achievements that included a selection of fashion stories entitled ‘Borneo’ and ‘Heaven is Real’ which were published in The Face magazine.

The exhibition will showcase images of an extremely young Kate Moss holding hands with Lorraine Pascale as well as pictures of a 16 year old Moss on the beach in Borneo with a number of local children.

The Face magazine had set out to challenge mainstream media and according to former editor Sheryl Garrett it:

“set out a new editorial task of expressing the underground movements of the 90s. Acid house, ecstasy and the massive, rapid rise of rave culture was the magazine’s inspiration … It felt like a time for smiling rather than pouting, for bright colours and openness and also for something more natural and real – which Corinne Day’s images tapped into very clearly”.

In addition to the exhibition there will be a new book of Corinne Day’s unpublished work, called Heaven is Real, which documents the photographs she took between the fashion shoots, as well as images from a documentary project she took on covering teenagers who were homeless in Berlin.
